Introduction
Racial Projects, as described by Omi and Winant, is “simultaneously an interpretation, representation, or explanation of racial identities and meanings, an effort to organize and distribute resources (economic, political, cultural) along particular racial lines.” One of the pivotal ways in which races are divided and made distinct is by the creation of perceived notions and characteristics through the usage of stereotypes and caricatures. These caricatures, as suggested by Patricia Hill Collins, create power structures between “races” and this website will introduce you to three of these caricatures.
